Prepare for your trip

Students should be aware that some moderate hiking is part of the adventure. For those not accustomed to the altitude this may be more challenging than what they would normally expect down in Kansas. On the 4th day, there is also a climb up a 14er. There is an alternative hike for those unable to summit this more difficult peak. Whether planning to summer Mt. Democrat or just hiking along the normal trails of Colorado, students are encouraged to exercise according to their ability over the summer months to get the most enjoyment out of the experience.
